angry boston cyclist
i feel like it is a good idea to volunteer your time to something you love and believe in. with that being said, i decided (along with a few mit cyclist) to get involved with boston's bay state bike week activities (www.baystatebikeweek.org). massachusetts is trying to encourage people to leave their cars at home and ride their bikes to work. personally i think it is a great cause and i WAS happy to volunteer my time to hand out water bottle to cyclist on friday morning.... the picture below says it all!
ari giving out water bottles to "angry boston cyclist". note the scared look. i feel like i had the same look...
Friday 16 may 2008
05:30 - i rolled out of bed, literally. put ari out in the backyard (way to early to go for a walk)
06:10 - pulled ari in his kid trailer to the boston side of the bu bridge and waited for aj to show up with the water bottles
06:30 - tony and i tried to give away the bottles to the cyclist as they were going over the bridge. mental note - at 06:30 commuting cyclist are not friendly...
07:30 - people started to take the water bottles and we finally got a few smiles
09:00 - we gave away over 150 water bottles (we had an estimated 700 cyclist pass over the bridge) i find it hard to believe people were afraid of me?? boston is a grumpy city in the morning!
09:30 - annie came to rescue ari and i then we rode over to government center for breakfast and treats, yummy!
