Boston Sailing Center - Frostbite Racing

todays frostbite racing according to pete:

My thanks to Bruce, Andrew, Mairead and Amy today for a great job in
challenging conditions (Winds 17 with gusts to 22 per Logan tower).

We raced a total of (4) races and Won: 1, Lost: 3 for a Net of -2 ... Or
as Amy summed it up "we came in first in 1 and second in 3"... :)

No excuses however we had some tough competition with Dave Franzel and Dave
Carlson at the helms of their respective boats. Clearly they won the start
and then covered us...

Since the wind was out of the North today the course set was long W/L up and
down the harbor. In the first race the NS flag was not up however given
what we observed in high-winds from the J24s in from us both our boat and
the other Olsen we were racing elected NOT to fly spinnakers since we were
at closed to hull speed without them using wing and wing.

When the wind dropped a bit in the 4th race the NS flag went down. We had a
good start and tightly covered the other boat tack for tack most of the way
on the upwind leg. We set and flew the Chute well due to great crew work
and Bruce's trimming. We had great separation from the other Olsen on our
downwind leg and upon rounding the leeward mark had good douse and quite a
lead to the finish. It was a good feeling overall to have the last race of
the day be our best with each person contributing to our success.

Mairead sailed the boat home and gave us an introduction to acrobatic
tacking which given the banter on boat was enjoyed by all...

Unfortunately no seal sightings...

beautiful day!
